Author Visit from Lisa See

You are cordially invited to a special visit by Lisa See, the author of The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, the 2019 title for One Story One City!  Ms. See will share with us her research process, highlights from her book, and answer some of our questions!

 

Adaptive One Story One City: Make and Take Travel Mugs

Adults (18 and over) and their Coaches/ Caregivers are invited to participate in this fun craft relating to our One Story One City selection!  We will be decorating travel mugs to celebrate the tea that is central to the story. Coaches/Caregivers are required to supervise and participate in the program.

International adoption, and its impact on the child’s sense of identity is a critical part of the featured title.  Please join us for this special screening to hear the authentic voices of 4 adoptees and their journey to discovering who they are and where they came from.

Come join us for a fun make and take program!  We provide the materials, and you provide the creativity!  Design a beautiful tea cake wrapper that speaks to who you are and where you are from—just like the tea cake that linked Li-yan and Haley in The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane!

 

Tea Ceremony

Join us for a special event with Denong Tea, purveyor of premium Pu-erh tea since 1998! Tea masters from Denong Tea will be showcasing the ancient Chinese tea ceremony and sharing their knowledge of Pu-erh tea.

 

Linda Louie: A Presentation on Pu-erh

Come learn about Pu-erh, the tea discussed in our featured title!  Ms. Linda Louie is an expert on Pu-erh and took Lisa See to Yunnan to conduct research for the book.  She will be here to share about the tea, her adventure with the author, and provide a tea tasting following the lecture.

Art in this show features and highlights family connections, traditions, or mother-daughter relationships. The exhibit will be on display from March 1, 2019 to May 31, 2019.

 

Chinese Zither/Guzheng Performance
